Services - Specialty - Internal Tube Scanning

Ultrasonic Tube Scanning is a method of examining tubular products for the purpose of determining remaining wall thickness and any notable discontinuities. A transducer producing ultrasound is connected to a flexible electrical cable and this cable is introduced into the inside diameter of the tubular product. Within this cable is a source of water that floods the inside of the tube area that is being examined.

Ultrasound travels through this water couplant and enters the tube material. Any reflectors (flaws) inside the tube material are transmitted back to an oscilloscope, which are then evaluated. This examination is excellent for determining remaining wall thickness and can provide a permanent record of this examination.
